Hello there and welcome! I’m so glad you could join me for my first blog post as a digital marketing creative. If my name sounds familiar, it is probably because I was previously involved in both the Sacramento and online crafting communities. For the past few years, I’ve taken a break from crafting, blogging, and freelance work to focus on starting a family. Career wise, I was feeling “stuck”, knowing I wanted to move on from web design but I wasn’t quite sure what direction to take. Finally, I read an article by Mark Manson that struck a chord with me:
“…You already found your passion, you’re just ignoring it. Seriously, you’re awake 16 hours a day, what the f*** do you do with your time? You’re doing something, obviously. You’re talking about something. There’s some topic or activity or idea that dominates a significant amount of your free time, your conversations, your web browsing, and it dominates them without you consciously pursuing it or looking for it.”
So I asked myself: What was it that was keeping me up late at night? What was it that I was doing when I was supposed to be doing other things?…Ummm…Social media??! ? Seriously though, I thought about all my past endeavors which included creating websites, selling my handmade jewelry, organizing craft shows, and blogging. The one thing that each of these projects had in common? Carefully crafted branding! That was always the best part for me, the icing on the cupcake. I enjoy so many aspects of digital marketing: designing content, writing copy, engaging with followers – how awesome is it when you find like-minded people who find value in what you do??! [Spoiler alert: Totally awesome!] It turns out Mark was right, my passion has been right here this whole time.
As you probably already know, social media is a great way to introduce your brand to the masses, to engage with your customers, and to create a visually appealing presence that helps build your brand “personality.” I’m looking forward to starting this new chapter in my life. I hope you will follow along — I promise to reward you handsomely in digital marketing tips.
